Treatments Design
The treatment designer works exclusively with directors and producers. The profession itself exists only in the advertising and film industry. The trick of such professionals is that their names are not indicated anywhere. They work in conjunction with the director and act under his brand.
Since treatments are internal projects, each designer has a portfolio that he shares upon request. This is a narrow area in which everyone knows each other and orders come through word of mouth. The director will never google the designer for his project – everything is only through networking and dating.
The presentations themselves do not win any awards and do not participate in competitions, there are no special nominations for treatment. And it cannot be – all designers have their approach to treatment, and works are exhibited for public viewing in isolated cases. All presentations are used only during the tender and help the client choose the best director.
How they come to the profession
Since the sphere is new, it is easy to enter it only with the presence of an existing portfolio. We advise you to throw a cry on social networks and communicate with familiar designers. Perhaps they know someone who can help get into the realm and gain experience.
For productive work, you need to know standard Adobe programs, be able to work with animation, and with online presentation designers. In principle, everything is like an ordinary layout and designer of standard presentations, of which there are many at the moment.
The main thing we recommend is to start learning design programs, namely Adobe InDesign and Readymag. The latter is an online builder that is often used to create animation tricks. In the days of the Internet and numerous videos on program interfaces, they can be studied in a matter of months. In self-study, it is important to devote the proper amount of time to a new skill and gradually hone it.
There are many more projects in Europe and the USA. Producers all over the world appreciate designers who can speak many languages, as there is no need to spend additional resources on translating project information and briefs.
